Congratulations 2021 Woman of Influence, Kelli Lawrence!

Onyx+East is excited to announce that our CEO, Kelli Lawrence, was honored as an IBJ 2021 Woman of Influence. The Indianapolis Business Journal’s Women of Influence program recognizes women who have risen to the highest levels in business, the arts and community and public service throughout central Indiana. This year’s list included small and large-company CEOs, public officials, doctors and attorneys.

Kelli has been the CEO of Onyx+East for two years and has worked in the development industry for more than 18 years. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, her background in multifamily investments in the Midwest led her to join the Onyx+East team.

Kelli has always enjoyed home building. “It is an honor and a privilege to build homes for people,” Kelli explained. “It is often their biggest investment and the place they spend some of their most treasured moments with friends and family.”

Kelli truly represents the values of the Women of Influence program especially with her dedication to community and public service. With the team at Onyx+East, Kelli helped launch a Community+ initiative that partners with community organizations in the neighborhoods that Onyx+East builds. Through this initiative, Onyx+East has delivered Thanksgiving dinners to families, provided back-to-school supplies and hosted a community open house with food and games for families in the neighborhood.

Kelli is also active in the community. She’s a leader on multiple boards, including Urban Land Institute Indiana, Ball State University Alumni Council and Riley Children’s Foundation.

Congratulations, Kelli, and thank you for leading Onyx+East with compassion, innovation, and continuous encouragement!

Advice to Young Women From Kelli

Do not be afraid, ask questions and constantly seek out ways to grow and find your passions. Do every job along the way to the best of your ability while taking on extra responsibilities and learning new skills that will challenge you and make you uncomfortable—that is how you grow.
