Staff Accountant

Job Summary

This position is responsible for general bookkeeping, accounts payable functions, creation and processing monthly draws and pay application documents, preparing accurate and timely financial reports/statement and assisting Accounting Director in monthly process. This individual will be applying accounting principles and procedures to prepare accurate and timely records and ensure appropriate accounting control for O+E and associated operating companies. The position will work with all departments within the company and report directly to the Director of Accounting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • General bookkeeping function for operating companies and project entities
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
  • Prepare monthly construction draws for projects, including close collaboration vendors to sure that payments to vendors happen in a timely manner
  • All facets of insurance and lien waiver process
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end records
  • Ensure records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Enter and maintain vendor, supply and miscellaneous accounting lists
  • Maintain organized paper and electronic accounting records
  • Analyze variances for budgets vs. actuals
  • Reconcile account balances to the detailed sub accounts and support
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements
  • Create financial statements for companies and projects
  • Continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
  • Assist with Tax and Audit preparation and request
  • Review closing statements, ensuring accurate information
  • Ensure that required project debt payments are made on a timely basis and monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Proactively identify issues and opportunities for projects and/or portfolio assets
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Skill Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, specializing in accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Power Point
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting and/or real estate finance
  • Proficient in Excel and ability to learn accounting systems
  • Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, open environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a busy workload
  • Judgment and problem-solving
